Welcome to Green Valley Lake - At 7,200 feet we are the highest community in the San Bernardino Mountains.

There is no better place to go than Green Valley Lake, California. This peaceful lake community nestled in the San Bernardino Mountains is only a short drive from Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego Counties. Green Valley Lake (GVL to the locals) is surrounded on all sides by dense National Forest.

Green Valley Lake, (GVL to the locals) is a secluded four season resort community with that small town "Mayberry" feel.

Located off Highway 18, within a 30 minute drive to either Lake Arrowhead or Big Bear, GVL offers an opportunity to enjoy clean air, water, privacy, nature, quiet and peace.

GVL was established in 1892 as a toll station on what was the main dirt road connecting San Bernardino to Big Bear. Now GVL is a small community of 1,100 cabins and a full time population of 800 (per post office). The private 14 acre lake was built in 1926 for the recreation of the property owners and still offers fishing, boating and a swimming beach for property owners and visitors.

The town of Green Valley Lake is made up of a a small mainstreet with a Malt Shop, realtor’s offices, a general store, post office and community center.

During the winter GVL is close to cross country skiing, snow shoe hiking trails, downhill skiing, snowboarding and sledding. GVL is a short 3 mile drive to the Snow Valley Ski Resort and a 30 minute drive to the Big Bear Ski resorts. Enjoy a full day of skiing and return to our cozy cabin to relax in a peaceful setting.

The lake area includes a beach and swimming area. Paddleboats and rowboats are available for rent. Barbecuing and volleyball areas are also available near the beach. The lake is well stocked in the summer for fishing (permit required). Hiking, rock climbing and mountain biking are also favorite local recreational activities during the warmer months.

Lots to do... or do nothing... it's up to you!
